MET GALA 2015

Hollywood may have the Oscars but New York has The Met Gala. Last night the stars of both coasts brought their A-Game. A parade of inspiration. Below are the result of the evening's gown competition*.

Honorably Mention goes to Rhianna wearing a stage sweeping saffron fur by Guo Pei.  She channeled Marlene Dietrich's Vegas years like a champ.

Coming in Third Place is Ms. Bradshaw nee Sarah Jessica Parker. Her understated black gown allowed her Forbidden City headdress by Philip Treacy to soar to new heights. My lust for headwear is real, and it runs deep.

The Second Place winner is Fan Bingbing in Christopher Bu. She paired a gold sequin gown with a cape that glittered as if made of Tiffany stained glass, total 'Le Gasp' moment.

And the winner... coming in first place for the evening is... CHER! Because, CHER! Seriously she looks amazing.

On the gentlemen's side, personal feelings aside, I gotta say how much I love The Beeb's entire ensemble by Balmain. I have been needing a new smoking jacket...

The theme of this year's Costume Institute exhibit is "China: Through The Looking Glass." This will show how contemporary fashion keeps dipping into the well of traditional Chinese dress and art for inspiration. I can't wait to see this show.
